I found this wonderful story on You Tube, about a Lion called Christian. I hope you enjoy it, it has such a lovely happy ending!
The story begins with two friends John Rendall and Ace Berg seeing a lion cub for sale in Harrods. He was small and all alone and in a very small cage. He looked sad and lonely so the pair of friends decided to buy him and bring him home to live with them.
A local Vicar allowed the pair to exercise their Lion Cub now known as Christian, in the church grounds. This really helped to begin with and Christian loved the play times. However, over the course of his first year with them it became apparent that Christian was becoming too big for their flat, and there would be no other option but to release him into the wild, so that he could form a pride of his own and live his life with plenty of space. Although they found it hard that is exactly what John and Ace did, and they released Christian into the wild in Africa.
About a year after his release, the friends were curious to see how their beloved friend was doing. So even though it was a long shot, they decided to visit Africa in particular the place where they had released Christian, to see if they might catch a glimpse of him. They had no idea if Christian would even remember them as he had been living his life in the wild for the past year.
After many hours of searching, they found him and they called to him and not only did Christian remember them, but he came up to give them a Big Lion Hug! He also ended up introducing them to his mate.
This story is so special and motivational it beautifully illustrates that true friendship knows no bounds of species, space or time. I always like to share stories that illustrate the kindness and beauty that are all around us if we choose to see them.
