My Top 5 Tips On How To Be Happy In Your Work.

how-to-be-happy-in-your-workMany people have very negative feelings associated with working.  They view their work as something that they have to do, rather than something they want to do.  The thought of working brings up ancient visions in their heads, where they see themselves as a slave working their fingers to the bone while the boss is wielding a big stick to make them work faster!!!

However in reality we have moved on, jobs are becoming easier all the time not only due to trade unions, but also through technology.  Hating your job is just another form of old limited thinking, and in order for you to attract a job you love, you have to find a way to enjoy where you are.  So if you are one the many people who are unhappy in your job, I am going to be sharing my top 5 tips to show you how to be happy in your work.

1.       Start your day with Positivity.

You heard right, you have to get out of bed on the right side, so if you have an annoying alarm clock that you hate, get rid of it.  Change your alarm to your favourite song, at least this way you will wake up humming to something you like.  Then once you are awake focus on all that is good in your life, your family, your friends even your pets.  As you go about your preparations to leave for work, focus on all the good and positive things that you already have, this not only puts you in a good mood but it also sets up a good vibration with which to start your day.

2.       Use Positive Affirmations

Positive Affirmations can be very powerful when used regularly.  So write yourself a list of positive affirmations to do with your work, so that you can read these to yourself every morning and then recite them in your head over and over on your way to work and throughout your day.  Some examples might be; “I am so happy and content in my work”, “I am earning at least $?????? per year and really love my work.”; “My Boss and co-workers appreciate me and I enjoy a very productive working environment.” Remember always to write the Positive Work Affirmations in the present tense as if this is your current reality.

Then the magic ingredient is to add your feelings.  Use your imagination to experience those feelings that you will feel when your positive affirmations become reality for you.  This will not only help you to feel more positive about your job, but it will also help to convince your subconscious mind that you are ready for change and it will begin to make you aware of opportunities that in a negative state you would otherwise have overlooked.

3.       Visualize Your Day Going Perfectly.

So now that you started out with some good vibrations and positive affirmations, it’s time to plan your day in advance.  On your way to work visualize your day going fantastically well.  Imagine being greeted by happy enthusiastic co-workers as you get to work and then imagine all your meetings or projects going perfectly.  See yourself happy, content and relaxed in work, with everything going according to your plan.

Make the images in your mind of things going well big and colourful, add sounds and as much detail as possible, just like a movie. Then imagine how you would be feeling when your day goes as well as this.  Play your little movie over and over on your way to work, feeling those positive feelings.  This will not only improve your mood, but it will also help to attract more positive situations in your work.

4.       Enjoy your Work.

That’s right you have to find a way to enjoy your work.  Now I know that we have all had jobs that are really not that exciting.  For me in my early days as a student I used to muck out stables, not that much fun at all.  However, you have to find a way to change your point of attention.

While mucking out I used to imagine riding the horses or even owning my own yard, with my own horses. (I now do have my own yard with my own horses!) My point is you have to find a way that works for you, to focus on something positive so that you enjoy your day.  As you manage to focus your mind more toward what you want, rather than what you don’t want, the law of attraction will reward you with many more positive situations throughout your day.

5.       Reward Yourself Often.

Yes reward is an important part of the process of enjoying your job.  So set aside a small portion of your salary every week to do something that you enjoy. This might be to go and see the latest movie, to go out with friends at the weekend, or to share dinner with someone special.  Whatever your reward is for working hard, make it a part of your weekly routine so that it becomes something positive for you to look forward to and focus on.

Well they are my top 5 tips for how to be happy in your work.  Now you may be thinking that these 5 tips involve a lot of hard work.  However, many of us put just as much effort into negative feelings about work; the only difference is that we have all had much more practice at the negative stuff.  My advice is to make these 5 tips part of your daily routine until your positive feelings become your way of life and that’s when you will not only love your work, but your life will transform for the better.
