5 Steps To Improve Your Brain Power.

brain-powerWhen it comes to human brain, it is a true biological prodigy. It has abilities that make it far superior to any other living creature on earth. However, just like any other part of the body, our brain needs some maintenance and special care to be able to perform at the optimum level.

There are a number of different things that you can do to enhance your brain power. The following are a few authentic and proven techniques that guide you through the necessary steps that will help you get started.

Step 1. Healthy Diet.

One of the first things that you need to look at is your diet. You need to eat a healthy diet to help your brain function properly. Include lots of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet and make sure to eat foods that are necessary for the proper functioning of your brain.

For instance, you can include such foods as almonds, wild salmon, or any fish. blueberries, green leafy vegetables, sunflower seeds, among others.

Along with this it is important to exercise. In order to have a strong and efficient circulatory system, you need to exercise regularly. A good circulatory system distributes the important nutrients equally to different parts of the body especially the brain.

Step 2. Daily Meditation.

Meditation is also important in helping you to improve your brain power and you should try to meditate at least once daily.  Meditation is fantastic for quieting and focusing the mind and research suggests that it increases the brains alpha and theta wave activity, and the alpha wave state is one of the highest states for learning and absorbing information.

If you’re a beginner to meditation, you can start by using the most simple form of meditation, which is simply to relax and focus on your breathing.

Begin by sitting or lying in a comfortable position, allow your body to relax from the top of your head right down to your toes.  Focus on your breathing, make it nice and slow and deep.  When a thought enters your mind, just clear it, and focus on your breathing again.

To start with try to meditate for about 5 minutes increasing to around half and hour each day.

People who meditate on regular basis have reduced stress levels, better focus, better memories and of course improved brain power compared to those who don’t.

Step 3. Engage Your Imagination.

Engage your imagination.  By making regular use of your imagination to visualize your dreams and goals, this helps to focus your mind toward the achievement of your goals.

The process of positive visualization not only improves your well-being, but also increases your brain power, by engaging your brain to seek out strategies and solutions that will enable you to eventually achieve your desired result.

Step 4. Get Adequate Rest.

Get adequate rest and relaxation.  It is important that you get enough sleep so that you brain has a chance to switch off and reboot.  When your brain is tired it will not be functioning at the optimum level, a rested brain has a far better efficiency than a tired one.

Step 5. Solve Puzzles/Learn a New Skill.

Playing games, solving puzzles or learning a new skill are all excellent ways to engage your brain and improve your brain power. Solving hard and complex puzzles improves your brains problem solving capabilities, while learning new skills requires your brain to engage many different areas as you begin to master the skill, all of which improves your brain functioning.

There are many ways to improve your brain power and these are just 5 simple steps that you can start using immediately.  The brain is similar to a muscle in that if you don’t use it regularly it begins to weaken and not work as well as it should.  So think of these steps as your personal brain work out and enjoy getting your brain physically fit:-)
